SENIOR SysTEmS Operator

Global Near Space Services (GNSS) is currently seeking an experienced Chief Engineer for its Star♦Tower Aerostat and Star♦Light Airship systems.

GNSS is a privately held corporation headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, whose flagship products focus on Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) unmanned aerospace systems. GNSS operates in conjunction with its parent company, Near Space Systems, Inc., in development of these LTA platforms with missions to provide wide-area communications, broadband, and sensing devices to meet the high demands of military and commercial customers for network connectivity and ready access to vital information.

 

 

Position: Chief Engineer (Position GNS-STR-0902-08)

 

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for all engineering aspects of the programs, including design engineering, stress analysis, tooling design, manufacturing engineering, materials and processes, quality assurance, and business development.
  • Lead a Multidisciplinary Engineering Team to execute complex lightweight structure design and manufacturing programs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers and potential customers as well as internal audiences.
  • Complete technical volumes and engineering estimates for proposal responses.
  • Plan, schedule, staff and manage complex engineering programs.
  • Evaluate and select advanced technologies to apply to production and development programs.
  • Manage and integrate approved technical solutions into programs to commercial production applications.
  • Identify talented engineers, plan development programs, and mentor individuals.
  • Develop relationships with customer engineering organizations to help win future work.
Experience
  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience in the aerospace or related industry working in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Design Engineering, Stress Analysis, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Design, Materials and Process Engineering.
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering team or integrated product team.
  • Experience Working on Aircraft or Satellite Design and Certification Program.
  • Experience Managing and Reporting Project Budget Requirements.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Willingness to Travel, both Domestic and International.
  • Knowledge of composite terminology, automated fiber placement, lay-up methods, machining methods, assembly and bonding.
  • Experience with commercial or government programs.
  • Organizational skills (project management).
  • Understanding of process control, Lean and Six Sigma.
  • PowerPoint presentations.
  • Working knowledge of, and practical experience with, LTA systems.
Education
  • Masters degree.
  • Related certifications are a plus.
